Review: Crow Planet by Lyanda Lynn Haupt
Februrary 28, 2024
I thought this book would be more instructional/ educational. It definitely did have those elements but they were mushed with far too many anecdotes about the author’s personal life.
Maybe I’m biased because I too grew up a Seattle Catholic but my god did it get to be too much after awhile. I lost it when she wouldn’t stop talking about Kairos, and got flashbacks to high school religion classes 🤢.
This did inspire me to give the urban natural space a deeper look. I’m going to approach my daily walks with more intentionality and try to appreciate the natural world while we have it.
Quotes:
The only notable one came from another book that she quoted, “We lost the wild bit by bit for ten thousand years and forgave each loss and then forgot.” The Abstract World by Jack Turner
